Empowerment is one of the chief driving forces of One Thread Outfitters. We don’t believe in charity or handouts, but we hold fast to the ideal of walking with others until they are able to run. All resources that we provide to our countries of involvement are purchased from their economy, is distributed by our local partners, we are constantly seeking ways to help development from within. Which is why our partnership with the “Smithereens” women of San Jose de Cusmapa is so dear to our mission and purpose.
What began as a supplement to their daily education has become a full flourished way these young women not only provide for their families, but also employ jobless single mothers and clean up their community. With an old donated tumbler and drill bits and a wealth of creativity, these women design and handcraft each piece of jewelry from the trash that litters their streets.
No one piece is alike and each bears the dreams and hopes of woman seeing to better herself and others. Its the very essence of what One Thread Outfitters is all about, turning the wants of some into the needs of others.
For each piece purchased from the GATHERED:Nicaragua collection, the women of Cusmapa are empowered to empower others. As GATHERED grows with other handmade accessories from our countries of involvement, the model will remain the same; you receive handcrafted, one of a kind pieces and they receive the chance at a brighter tomorrow. Browse the GATHERED collection and join the fight for enough today!

Here’s a behind the scenes post from Patrick on our latest ad campaign. Enjoy!
Its such a blessing to be able to do all things I get to do. One of the things I enjoy most is when my endeavors cross. I handle all the photography for One Thread and it’s always fun to combine my two passions. Yesterday we began photography on our latest ad campaign. Last minute changes put stress level on alert which is when I work best. The talented Sarah Kobos jumped right in, hunting down models; an hour later and we were off to location. I originally intended to shoot in a parking garage I had shot some never before released photos (until now) :
But as we arrived, the light was setting into the magic hour and the vacant lot beside the garage was tingling with great light. Number one rule of photography, be flexible. So we got models in place, the camera calibrated, and it was off to the races. The key to a good shot is patience. Shooting next to a busy street means bikers, dogs, cars all love to ruin a great shot. So everyone must be patient (way easier said than done) to grab what you need. The models did a fantastic job. Working on such a tight schedule and with people you’ve never collaborated with before can be a daunting task, but everyone brought their A game. Cant wait to share them all!

It’s been almost a week since we unveiled the ANMWE HAITI relief tee and the response has been tremendous. While it comforts us to know there are others concerned about the fight for enough, we are still burdened over the amount of work that needs to be done. We’ve kept close eye on the news and reports that are coming out of Haiti. Each face twisted in fear, each body stretched lifeless, these images haunt us. Even more disturbing is the reports of the misuse of funds given for relief efforts. To exploit disaster for personal gain is a terrible stain on the hands of humanity.
In light of such news, we have taken due diligence to choose our organizational partners wisely. We are pleased to announce that we have begun an initial partnership with the non-profit organization, HOPE International. HOPE, founded in 1975, began with a mission to enable people in the developed world to connect with people in the poorest communities on earth through compassionate giving and other opportunities to help. They have been involved with social and economical development of Haiti since 1980.
HOPE has committed resources and manpower to medical relief in the earthquake aftermath. HOPE has also committed full allocation of all fund earmarked for earthquake relief to directly fund efforts, no overhead is being taken. In light of our partners’ generosity and a move within our own hearts and minds, we have chosen to extend 100% of the profit from the sales of our ANMWE HAITI tee to relief support for the next six months.
We are committed to the fight for enough. Join us by spreading the word, purchasing our apparel, and support our organizational partners. Check out HOPE International by following the links below. The time for action is now.
-The One Thread Team
Months ago we began examining the world looking for other places to join the fight for enough. With so much need around the world, we were divided on where to focus our efforts. The need for water in Ethiopia is severe; the famine in Indonesia is at crisis level, the people of Haiti were in desperate need. We wrestled with how to choose. Then January 12th came.
Catastrophes have a way of putting life in proper perspective, if you allow it. As the news and reports flooded in, our hearts were immediately aligned. Our faith is one that demands action. The call was clear. Haiti needs our help now and in the months and years to come
Plans for our initial soft launch have been pushed back. All funds have been diverted to preparing how we can best begin a sustained work in the holistic development of the people of Haiti.
To address the immediate need for financial support for earthquake relief, we are unveiling the first item in our Anmwe (help) Haiti collection. For the first two months of this launch, 10USD will be donated to Haiti earthquake relief for every shirt purchased. We are currently coordinating relief partnerships to ensure all funds are reaching areas of most need.
As we continue to not only unfurl the new collection of One Thread, but also move towards our soft launch, we want, make that need, your involvement. As a company, we are committed to the holistic development of impoverished and underdeveloped areas around the globe. This effort will, as it always has, require all of us to join in. By spreading the word of One Thread Outfitters, purchasing our apparel, and supporting our organizational partners, you are helping us make lasting change in our fragile world. You want. They need. We bridge the gap.
